Governance and Compliance
The ability to apply knowledge and skills for AI governance tasks. Competence requirements should be defined for model developers, product owners, reviewers, auditors, procurement teams, and system operators. Competence evidence may include training records, role requirements, certifications, peer review, approved reviewer lists, and demonstrated ability to apply AI controls in real cases.
The IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) certification, launched in 2024, has been adopted by privacy and compliance professionals as evidence of governance competence.
The British Standards Institution offers an ISO 42001 Lead Auditor training course used to qualify internal auditors and external assessors.
Under ISO 42001 clause 7.2, organizations must determine necessary competence, ensure persons are competent, take actions to acquire competence, and retain documented evidence.
