Key EU AI Act dates include 2 February 2025 for prohibited practices and AI literacy, 2 August 2025 for GPAI and governance rules, 2 August 2026 for general application, and 2 August 2027 for certain high-risk obligations. These dates should be embedded into regulatory obligation registers, roadmap planning, contract reviews, training schedules, and readiness reporting.
The EU AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024 with prohibited practices and AI literacy obligations applying from 2 February 2025.
GPAI model obligations applied from 2 August 2025 with EU-level fines under Article 101 activating from 2 August 2026.
High-risk AI obligations under Annex III apply from 2 August 2026, while AI embedded in regulated products has until 2 August 2027 or 2028 under the AI Omnibus.
