Governance and Compliance
A management system used to establish policies, objectives, processes, roles, and controls for responsible AI. It gives organizations a repeatable way to govern AI risks and opportunities. A mature AIMS connects ISO-style management system discipline with AI-specific risks and integrates with security, privacy, quality, enterprise risk, vendor risk, audit, and compliance processes.
KPMG Australia became the first organization globally certified by BSI to ISO 42001 in October 2024, establishing an AIMS covering Trusted AI governance and project workflows.
Anthropic obtained ISO 42001 certification from Schellman Compliance on 6 January 2025, scoping its AIMS to AI research and development and AI services.
Amazon Web Services achieved accredited ISO 42001 certification in November 2024 covering AI services including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q Business, Amazon Textract, and Amazon Transcribe.
